EASY CARE TIPS

Interior Care

The interior of your car is constantly exposed to sunlight and heat, and over time, the parts of the interior made of plastic, rubber, or vinyl-like dashboards or seats will become discoloured, and could dry out and crack if not treated properly.

Use Mechanix Protectant to treat these surfaces because they contain surfactants to remove dirt and offer protection from UV damage.

Upholstery can make up a significant portion of your car’s interior, including seats, carpets, and floor mats, all of which get dirty and stained from mud and dirt, grease, oil, grime, and spills. Upholstery also absorbs odors, which, over time, can build up and leave a lingering unpleasant smell in the car.

Regular care, like frequent vacuuming to remove soil buildup and periodic treatment with shampoo or Glitz Carpet Spot and Stain Cleaner, can keep your upholstery looking fresh. Both cleaning methods have proved to be effective, so use the one that is most convenient for you.

Exterior Care

Car wash

Try washing your car in a cool, shady area to avoid streaking and reduce water spotting. Start at the top of the vehicle and move down. The bottom parts of your car accumulate the most dirt, so starting at the top will help to avoid dragging dirt onto other parts of your car.

To minimize swirls and scratches while washing your car, use two buckets. Fill the first bucket with clean water and the second bucket with water and Mechanix Wash and Wax. First dunk your sponge or mitt into the soapy car wash solution to wash your car with lubricating suds. Before adding more soapy car wash solution, dunk the mitt or sponge vigorously into the bucket with clear water to avoid transferring dirt back onto your paint.

To remove stubborn stains such as insects, road tar, tree sap, and bird droppings, try using a non-diluted Mechanix Heavy Duty Truck & Car Wash . Using a sponge, apply full strength car wash directly onto the spots, let it penetrate for 3–5 minutes, then wash it off with a stream of water.

Glass

Your car’s windows can accumulate dirt and dust particles, road grime, tree sap, water spots, bugs, and bird droppings. Keep¬ing your windshield and windows clean is essential for safe driving. Use Mechanix Windscreen Concentrate and clean the windscreens regularly.

Tyres

Use Mechanix Tyre Shine to give your tires a high-gloss finish and to protect them from damaging environmental conditions that age them.

Do not use tire shine with bleach because they may make your tires gray and can stain your wheels. Do not apply tyre shine to treads, as it can be dangerous when driving. For tougher stains, such as tar, and for whitewalls, try using a wet scouring pad to clean.

Regardless of the product type you choose, keep a cloth handy to wipe overspray from rims. Buffing with a cloth also allows you to customize the shine on your tires.
